And I want to do everything.
Are you the same way? New jobs are being created all the time, there’s so much to do, so little time. I want everything all at once and I have no patience..but you know, maybe slow and steady does win the race…
Years ago I read On the Road and I was absolutely transfixed by the lives those people were leading. They were raw, restless and unconventional. They thought of every moment as precious and thus took the road less traveled. Of course ultimately they were mostly just irresponsible and self-destructive and perhaps never really found true happiness, but one quote from Keroauc has stuck with me ever since:
So the trick, I guess, is to find some balance: be both a fabulous yellow roman candle exploding like a spider across the stars AND be patient with yourself, always do your best and know that life is a climb; and in order to be really good, you have to be willing to be really bad at it and just start. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you start. No overthinking. It’s quite a liberating feeling actually.
In the words of the wise Oprah Winfrey, luck is preparation meeting opportunity. So just be bad at it, and before you know it, you’re a freaking badass.
