A brand new guilty pleasure

Okay, so I have a confession to make…

Perhaps it’s just a consequence of being stuck at home for so many weeks. Perhaps it’s just a side effect of going slightly crazy, but my habits have been changing a bit, and I’ve been developing some odd tastes…

I don’t know about you, but what started out as an – arguably – appropriate time to dedicate effort to tasks such as working out or doing some yoga, cooking new recipes or reading new books have actually become quite maddening at this point. It’s hard to keep structure when all your days are blending into one. I’m not as enthusiastic about cooking three meals a day as I was in week one of quarantine, nor am I following my workout routine as I religiously as I once were.

So don’t blame me for engaging in less than intellectual activities – and actually enjoying it.

Okay, I feel like I’ve justified myself enough now lol. I have a brand new guilty pleasure that has lasted about three days now. Let’s see how much longer it’s gonna last…

So, I miss having regular conversations with my friends, where we talk about nothing productive. That’s a very important factor here because that’s what led me to the podcast I’ve been listening to and that has me laughing hysterically at some points: The Morning Toast. Scrolling down options on Spotify I ended up landing on them. I didn’t know the hosts before or the show, but the premise of the podcast is just two sister discussing pop culture to a millennial audience.

They love talking about reality shows that I know absolutely nothing about. The only reality shows I watch are Say Yes To The Dress and Love is Blind on Netflix. So I’m completely alienated half the episodes, but having said that, it’s hilarious to listen to. The amount of passion they have towards talking about celebrities and random tv shows is so interesting to me. Even though I can’t relate to them a lot of the time, it’s just like listening to friends vent and talk, and I miss having that kind of interaction. They put so much emphasis on little things that I fail to notice in my daily life, like the importance of getting their nails professionally done or celebrities’s instagrams, they have so much conviction of their passion and lifestyle that it’s just fascinating to me. Even if I have no idea what they’re talking about! They should be on E!

I absolutely loved listening to their rant about Gal Gadot’s Imagine video. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. So it’s been fun.

Besides, I just finished watching Normal People and man, has that series just about killed me. I’m still recovering and I’m welcoming any distractions from the heartbreak…but more on that on a different post.
