The kind of content we choose to consume influences not only the way we see the world, but it also affects our subconscious mind more than we think. That’s why I no longer listen to crime podcasts – I was getting sick of jumping over my own shadow and my heart skipping a beat every time I heard a noise.
So even though reading the news is extremely important, I highly recommend living in a momentary happy bubble every once in a while. A place where everything is beautiful and full of love. It’s important to interact with things that raise our vibration and uplift us, so here are some feel good Netflix shows that help me find my happy place. Maybe they’ll help you too.
I don’t know how many times I’ve watched The Office, but every time feels like the first time. Michael is both infuriating and endearing; their boring office lives are so hilarious and heartwarming, it makes you realise how ordinary lives can be so special and full of everyday adventures. It’s the kind of show that helps you feel better about the troubles on your mind.
Could I possibly watch one episode of Queer Eye without shedding a tear? How can a show make you cry so much make you feel so good? It’s all about vulnerability, helping people, being nice and kind, and a lot more than my little heart can take. Watch it to remind yourself that the best way to make an impact and to even help yourself is by helping others.
Say I Do
It’s like Queer Eye, but about weddings. I mean!! I love weddings. Normal weddings make me cry, but add resilient people who have overcome such hard times, have found the love of their lives and now there are suddenly three guys making their most extravagant wedding dreams come true. Pure love and happiness.
This show makes me want to get up and go make my wildest dreams come true. The cinematography, the soundtrack, the whole things is perfectly, beautifully done. Each episode dives into the story of a Michelin star chef and it’s profoundly inspiring to hear about how they’ve built their career and how much they’ve overcome in their lives. Behind every success story there’s so much struggle, pain, and doubt, and it’s so uplifting to see people fight and refuse to give up on their dreams.
If I’m feeling sad or down I just put on Gilmore Girls and let me tell you, the magic of Stars Hollow makes me forget about all my troubles. I’d love to live in a world where there are regular quirky town meetings, coffee at Luke’s, eating copious amounts of fast food without any health consequences, Suki cooking me extravagant breakfasts, a troubadour singing background music to my life and cute guys who fall desperately in love with me because they simply can’t help it. So thank you, Gilmore Girls for ruining my life. And for all the wonderful escapism.
Okay, I agree there’s nothing groundbreaking about this list, but who knows! Maybe you have been living under a rock and haven’t heard of some of these. In that case, you’re welcome. But in any case, I’m always on the hunt for new things to watch so tell me your favourite feel-good shows in the comments below!
